Over-training has become a common practice nowadays. Many people workout because they want to gain muscle, lose some weight, and achieve the physique that they have been dreaming off. These individuals are often in such a hurry to achieve their ideal physique that they forget to follow fitness safety guidelines. Many athletes who over-train exercise for about six hours a day — a length of time that is considered to be excessive. These individuals do not realize that over-training may do more harm than good. Too much or too intense training may lead to injuries, low testosterone levels among men and amenorrhea in women.

Some medical studies suggest that over-training may cause a temporary decrease in testosterone levels. Testosterone is the principal male sex hormone which plays an important role in libido, immune function, energy, and many more. This hormone is essential for the development of male sex and reproductive organs like the penis, testicles, and the prostate. Low levels of testosterone may cause a problem to many men.

A temporary reduction in sperm count and quality which may lead to temporary infertility may also be experienced by men who over-train. This happens because the body literally kills itself during training and needs time to recuperate to build muscles and improve the body. Too much or too intense physical activity may reduce the level of hormones in the bloodstream and therefore affect sperm production. The decrease in these components is temporary and may return to normal after a few days of rest.

Women who engage in over-training are at risk of many health problems like amenorrhea, a term that refers to the absence of menstrual periods. This is experienced by women because of extremely low body fat content. Missed menstruation is often linked to decreased estrogen primary female sex hormone levels. Several medical studies show that amenorrheic women, and those who have body fats below 10 of the ideal measure may have a hard time getting pregnant. In addition to this, amenorrhea may also lead to osteoporosis, an ailment which decreases bone density, making the bones vulnerable to fracture and other injuries. Bones usually become brittle when people are much older, but some young women, especially the ones who experience amenorrhea develop brittle bones at a very young age.

Signs and symptoms of over-training may include the following

missed or irregular menstrual periods
extreme thinness
extreme or rapid weight loss
behaviors that reflect frequent like eating very little, not eating in front of others, and focus on low-calorie food
frequent and intense exercising taking aerobics class followed by a five mile run, swimming for long hours, and weight-lifting
an I can’t miss a day of workout attitude
anxious preoccupation with injuries
exercising despite illness, bad weather, injury and other conditions that may require resting
too much self-criticism or self-dissatisfaction
extreme anxiety and low self-esteem
fatigue
sleep difficulties
feeling cold most of the time
constant conversations about weight

If these signs are experienced, it is important to make adjustments in ones exercise routine and eating regimen. Exercising in moderation and reducing the intensity from time to time, coupled with healthy diets may help prevent the adverse effects of over-training. For women, it is also best to seek advice from one’s doctor to make sure that one’s missed periods is not a sign of over-training. Individuals who want to lose weight properly are encouraged to consult doctors and other health professionals for advice. Understanding the proper workout regimen, and including a healthy diet in one’s lifestyle may lead to improved health and overall well-being.

Everywhere you go you see a weight loss plan being advertised. In the supermarket checkout line there are dozens of magazines displayed. On almost every one you will see a diet plan or diet tips that are guaranteed to work!

As more people suffer with obesity and loss of energy, the concern becomes greater to lose weight. In desperation, people try every new diet that comes out. Some of these are not good for your health and can cause severe problems with continued use.

Another popular method of weight loss is taking diet pills. Sometimes a doctor will give you an appetite suppressant, but these are only meant for temporary use. Many take over-the-counter pills, but these are really only supplements and may not deliver the desired results.

Try a Natural Approach to Weight Loss

If you are dissatisfied with your body and the diets you have tried, why not try a more natural approach? You may not see instant results, but in the long run the results will be more satisfactory. You will have a better level of health and wellness, and a higher level of energy.

With all the additives, preservatives and chemicals in our food and body hygiene products, our bodies are in need of detoxing. Using a cleansing system, usually made up of herbal products, will help remove the toxins built up in your organs and fatty tissues.

Other harmful products that affect our health are cigarettes and tobacco products, sodas, coffee, environmental pollutants and prescription drugs. By detoxing the body you will eliminate these wastes and help the body function in a healthier way. This will give you more energy, better colon health, clearer skin, and help with your weight loss efforts.

Eat Healthy Foods

A good diet of healthy foods is another area that is important. Eliminate harmful foods such as white flour and sugar and refined foods. Eat meat moderately and concentrate on fresh vegetables and fruit. Instead of skipping meals and eating one big meal a day, eat five to six small meals during the day. This is easier for your body to absorb and can be used more efficiently.

It is important to keep your metabolism functioning to lose weight. Exercise is important for everyone, but not everyone wants to run for an hour, or has access to a swimming pool. Find something you like to do. If you don’t like to exercise alone, join a gym and have a variety of activities to choose from. If you have a good place to walk, take a brisk walk several times a week. You may not see instant results, but you will be burning extra calories and begin to tone up.

Healthy Weight Loss

By eating less calories and eating healthier foods, you will keep your metabolism from slowing down. You can still eat enough to get full without eating fatty or sugar-laden foods. All natural and organic foods will satisfy your appetite and help you burn more calories. Taking vitamins and minerals will help avoid any deficiencies.

As you seek weight loss and natural healing, make some changes in your life. Strive to eat healthy and get more exercise. These are the keys to feeling better and living a longer and more satisfying life.

In today’s very fast paced world we do not consume a proper diet all of the time. If you conduce a busy life and do not acquire decent vitamins for your body to function decently then you should be counterbalancing with natural vitamin supplements.

Of course, the virtually obvious benefit to accepting multi vitamin supplements is convenience. It is far more easily for someone to accept one dosage of a multi vitamin supplement that carries each of the essential vitamins compared to accepting each one one by one. This is especially the case for children as it could be tricky for them to accept a large number of vitamin supplements but one dosage of a multi vitamin supplement is far more easygoing.

This led to vitamin supplements being widely available in grocery stores and even gas stations, especially for the most commonly required vitamin supplements such as vitamin C. The production of vitamin supplements has increased to such a level that there are now specific vitamin supplements available to cater for different age groups, including children and the over 50s. The increase in demand for vitamin supplements does not seem to be decreasing but the variety and choice available to consumers is constantly being improved.

Nutritious content claims for dietary supplement vitamin describe the level of some type of vitamin or vitamins in that supplement. For instance, agreeing to many health organizations, a dietary supplement vitamin with at least 12 milligrams per portion of vitamin C could have the following stated on its label “Great source of vitamin C.”

To make the decision simpler there are now a many of multi vitamin supplements produced for unique people. For instance, there are multi vitamin supplements that are designed for children. These multi vitamin supplements contain the unique nutrients that children necessitate for them to grow and acquire decently. Pregnant women have singular nutrient necessities to ensure that their baby receives the necessary nutrients and there are multi vitamin supplements developed for pregnant women.

Another thing to consider Our bodies can stand 500 times the RDA of vitamin as long as it comes from food yet that is not the case for synthetic vitamin diet supplement. We can reach toxic levels by taking too much of vitamin dietary supplement.

It is crucial to look at the contents of any multi vitamin supplement prior consuming too many. A lot of vitamins can be toxic if too much is ingested and this can occur more easily with multi vitamin supplements as a few of the content may be unnoticed. The labeling of the actual portion of the advisable daily allowance for each vitamin in a multi vitamin supplement should be clearly labeled and must be evaluated before a person ingest them. Always seek professional medical advice before taking any multi vitamin supplement if there is any question as to the welfares of the contents.

How does physical health or the lack thereof impact our state of mind? In this article, I use my own enlightening experience as a means of providing a personal but arguably universal answer to this question. I also impart to my readers the essentials of nutrition that should prove helpful in designing a wholesome diet. Finally, as an addendum, I impart to my readers some basic notions related to exercise and the pursuit of fitness.

During the dark years that followed my diving accident, I deviated from my wholesome eating habits. This deviation was partly due to my limited control over my diet, as I lived in a hospital or a group home. It was also due to my reduced health-consciousness. Largely disgusted with life, I was proportionally hedonistic and suicidal. I sought consolation in gustatory pleasure at the risk of undermining my health. To be more precise, I often overindulged my fondness for fatty and savory foods or sweet ones, with the result that I gained weight and lost my edge that is, part of my vitality. This loss was ominous. It took a wealth of vitality to accept and overcome the difficulty of attaining happiness. The more I was devitalized and consequently weak, the more I was likely to be daunted by this difficulty.

Devitalization was the worst form of impoverishment. In a state of weakness, it was tempting to deny that happiness was possible or worth the effort and choose the easy option idleness and carelessness or death. I never gave in to this morbid temptation, but my overindulgence in fatty and savory foods or sweet ones caused my vitality to lessen and my depression to worsen, thereby reinforcing my hedonistic and suicidal tendencies. I had entered a vicious circle, or rather a downward spiral that led to hell.

Fortunately, before it was too late, I became disgusted with my way of life, as opposed to life itself. I was less a victim of circumstances than a fool who brought about his own misery, on account of his negative attitude and self-destructive behavior. I began my uphill journey to wisdom and health.

Health is the basis for every human achievement, even when it is poor, in which case it provides a lot less vitality and longevity than when it is good. I pledged to do everything possible to be healthy to maximize my potential to live and love.

In fact, health is not just a matter of vitality and longevity; it is also a matter of sanity. A sound mind is a complement to a sound body. Furthermore, the one is dependent on the other. This dependence had dawned on me with dazzling clarity a few months after I had moved into my apartment and improved my diet. By then I had studied many health books. They had helped me define and meet my nutritional requirements much more wisely.

My body needed a balanced and moderate amount of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, minerals, and vitamins to function well. Correlatively, the foods containing these nutrients had to be properly chewed to aid digestion and absorption this did not apply to fiber a type of carbohydrate that the body can neither digest nor absorb. Proper chewing reduces foods to mush and proportionally increases the effect of the digestive juices on them or the availability of the nutrients that are ready for absorption. I thoroughly performed this simple chore, at the center of life.

To start with, carbohydrates are simple or complex sugars that I generally obtained from fruit, honey, milk products, beets, rutabagas, potatoes, legumes beans, lentils, or peas, nuts, seeds, whole grains, and the bread, cereal, or pasta made from these grains. Simple sugars and digestible complex sugars serve as an energy source and participate in the synthesis of DNA and RNA molecules the genetic information and the genetic messengers that enable the organism to regenerate and reproduce. Indigestible complex sugars, better known as dietary fiber, are capable of promoting the elimination of waste through the intestine. Refined foods are depleted of this fiber, without which constipation is a predictable outcome that bodes ill. Except on festive occasions, I resolutely avoided them.

Lipids include two main subdivisions saturated, monounsaturated, or polyunsaturated fats with a phosphoric component in some of them i.e., in phospholipids versus triglycerides that are pure fats and cholesterol, which is a singular fatty compound. Like simple sugars and digestible complex sugars, saturated fats and monounsaturated fats serve as an energy source. In addition, they contribute to the integrity of the body tissues. Polyunsaturated fats and cholesterol also contribute to this integrity and are used for a variety of vital functions involving the cardiovascular, digestive, endocrine, and immune systems.

A distinctive feature of polyunsaturated fats is their instability. When exposed to heat, light, or air, such as in processing, intense cooking, or prolonged everyday use, they can suffer damage and become harmful. In view of this fact, I was careful to eat the foods that contained them for example, walnuts and seeds, and the oil extracted from either in their most natural unprocessed and if possible uncooked form and fresh unspoiled state. When cooking was necessary, as in the case of fish or tofu, which numbered among these foods, I resorted to steaming or baking in preference to frying and proceeded with caution, while avoiding the pitfall of undercooking. I applied the same basic principles to the foods that contained monounsaturated fats, like peanuts, almonds, olives, and avocado, and the oil extracted from any of them, though these fats are less unstable than their polyunsaturated counterparts. As for cholesterol, found exclusively in animal products, and saturated fats, found mostly in land animal products, they have a reputation for causing arterial blockage and organ dysfunction if consumed without restraint. I limited my intake of them by following a largely vegetarian diet where animal flesh was the exception, not the rule. Actually, I exercised restraint in my consumption of polyunsaturated fats and monounsaturated fats as well. The opposite, like any lack of moderation, is a health hazard.

Now for proteins. They are various macromolecules that comprise a large number of amino acids nitrogenous molecules that occur in twenty-two different forms. In the course of digestion, these macromolecules are broken down into these molecular components, which act thereafter as raw material or building blocks to produce new molecules or new macromolecules polypeptides, smaller than proteins, or proteins that suit our physiological needs in many areas the metabolism, the blood, the mucous membranes, the skin and the tendons, the muscles, plus the endocrine, immune, and nervous systems. These molecular components act so if the body has enough carbohydrates and fats to satisfy its energy requirements. Otherwise, they are stripped of their nitrogenous part and mobilized into satisfying these requirements. This constitutes a waste of precious amino acids and a burden to the kidneys, in charge of eliminating the free nitrogenous part after the liver has transformed it into urea. As it happened, my main sources of protein namely, legumes, nuts, whole grains, and the bread, cereal, or pasta made from these grains, together with milk products and eggs were also rich in carbohydrates or fats. Here the fats that mattered were saturated or monounsaturated, whereas the polyunsaturated ones were not a favorable means of satisfying my energy requirements, given the many other important roles they played.

Lastly, minerals and vitamins are a group of some thirty substances that complement carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins. A deficiency in one of them can hamper a bodily function and jeopardize in so doing the health of an individual. Collectively, as precursors or components of useful agents, or as useful agents themselves, they assist in numerous processes vision, nerve impulses and neurotransmission, muscle contraction, digestion and absorption, regulation of blood sugar and of the metabolic rate, respiration, energy production, regeneration and reproduction, formation and maintenance of bones and teeth, coagulation, protection against free radicals noxious atoms or molecules, and immunity. My usual sources of carbohydrates, lipids, and protein already supplied me with minerals and vitamins, all the more since they were unrefined. Refining is a terrible refinement that depletes fibers and nutrients in foods. Nevertheless, to make sure I got enough minerals and vitamins, I rounded off these usual sources with additional vegetables carrots, radishes, cauliflower, red cabbage, green vegetables, leafy or non-leafy, garlic, and onions. I drank plenty of water to boot, though not during or immediately after meals lest I interfere with my digestion by flooding my stomach. Drinking water typically contains a minute quantity of minerals. Much more importantly, it has the ability to replenish the bodily fluids and cleanse the system of undesirable substances.

The best thing about my improved diet was that in a few months my state of mind had taken a turn for the better in a big way. Never before had I thought so clearly and felt so enterprising. I was brimming with vitality and soon became immersed in the writing of my book on vital efficiency. It appeared I was a lot more capable of rationalizing and embracing the challenge of leading a fulfilling life, because I was a lot more alive. My energy level had risen dramatically. I could sleep three hours, rest another two hours, and go about my business for the remaining nineteen hours. In conjunction with this rise, my morale was unusually high. Circumstances alone could not account for this boost. My relationship with my girlfriend an extremely kind and gentle, and rather pretty nurse was in the doldrums and on the brink of termination. My new apartment, on the other hand, was a significant improvement; but what changed for the better during the few months in question was primarily the condition of my body, which impacted my state of mind. I was vibrant with health, notwithstanding I still experienced bladder problems that somewhat weakened me on occasion. This health was both physical and mental. I had a vigorous and joyous sense of purpose that kept me going and especially writing.

In the effort to be healthy, a reasonable diet is not everything. Fresh air and regular exercise ought to form part of this effort. There are two types of exercise; both require stretching, before and after, plus warmup and cooldown periods, to avoid injuries.

The first type of exercise is anaerobic, not dependent on the intake of oxygen. An example of anaerobic exercise is weightlifting. Done frequently, in vigorous workouts, it strengthens muscles and bones. The second and most beneficial type of exercise is aerobic, dependent on the intake of oxygen. An example of aerobic exercise is jogging. Done every day or a few times a week, for at least fifteen minutes enough to markedly and sustainedly increase the activity of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems, responsible for delivering oxygen to the body tissues, it yields numerous health benefits. Besides strengthening muscles and bones, it raises endurance, improves the handling of stress, promotes good mood, boosts the immune function, reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke, and helps to prevent obesity together with disorders like diabetes and hypertension that often accompany this condition. In a nutshell, fresh air and regular exercise are important aspects of a wholesome lifestyle. They result in someone being stronger, feeling better, and probably living longer.

The human body operates on a twenty-four-hour cycle. Your cells do not go
to sleep when you do, nor can they exist without continuous oxygen and
nutrients. Therefore, for best results, space your supplements as evenly as possible during the day.

If you take your supplements all at once, do so with dinner, not breakfast.

The prime time for taking supplements is with or after meals. Vitamins are
organic substances and should be taken with other foods and minerals for best absorption. Because the water-soluble vitamins, especially B complex and C, are excreted fairly rapidly in the urine, a regimen of with breakfast, with lunch, and with dinner will provide you with the highest body level. If after each meal is not convenient, then half the amount should be taken after breakfast and the other half after dinner.
If you must take your vitamins all at once, then do so with the largest meal of the day.

And remember, minerals are essential for proper vitamin absorption, so be
sure to take your minerals and vitamins together.

What&8217;s Right for You

Supplement needs vary depending on your sex, age, health, lifestyle, daily
stresses, and dietary restrictions. Job changes, illness, physical and emotional traumas, all take a nutritional toll. With more supplements available today than ever before, and in more delivery systems than ever before, there&8217;s no reason whyyou can&8217;t reap maximum health benefits by selecting the nutrients you need in a form that works for you.

If you&8217;re unsure as to whether you&8217;d be better off with a powder, a liquid,
a gel-cap, or a tablet, regular vitamin E or dry, or taking supplements three times a day, my advice to you is to experiment. If the supplement you&8217;re taking doesn&8217;t agree with you, try it in another form. Vitamin C powder mixed in a beverage might be much easier to take than several large pills when you&8217;re coming down with a cold. If your face breaks out with vitamin E, try the dry form. Also

Make sure you know all you should about your supplement.

If you&8217;re taking any medications, familiarize yourself with drugs that
deplete nutrients as well as nutrients that may interfere with medications.

Many individuals struggle to achieve their ideal body weight. Many people spend enormous amounts of money on gym memberships, personal trainers, and weight loss pills but achieve minimal results. More than a problem of metabolism and food intake, recent studies show that intestinal parasites can also be responsible for unwanted weight gain. These intestinal parasites enter the human body through different channels like food and water. These parasites may be one among the causes of weight gain and the reason why certain people have trouble losing weight. These parasites hamper the digestive process, which may then cause unwanted weight gain. The presence of intestinal parasites in the human body is usually detected by looking for the following symptoms

	Diarrhea
Nausea or vomiting
Gas or bloating
Dysentery loose stools containing blood and mucus
Rash or itching around the rectum or vulva
Stomach pain or tenderness
Feeling tired
Weight loss
Passing a worm in your stool

Intestinal parasites present in the body causes the lining of the intestines to become inflamed. Inflammation of the intestinal linings inhibit the consumption necessary vitamins, nutrients, and minerals that aid in the regulation of hormones, metabolism, and blood sugar levels. Parasites consume the food meant for the body and deprive the body of the nutrients and leave it with empty calories. This impels individuals to crave more food — which only leads to more weight gain.

In addition to inflammation, parasites in the body produce toxins and acids that destroy body tissues, corrupt the organs, and slowdown the function of the central nervous system. To remove these toxins and waste products, filtration organs like the kidney and liver work harder causing it to slowdown. Delay in these areas may cause individuals to feel tired and sluggish and gain additional weight because of tampered metabolism.

The development of intestinal parasites can be avoided by having a healthy diet and proper hygiene. Frequent washing of hands, regular trimming of fingernails, and cleaning bathrooms and the kitchen thoroughly are some of the simple things that can be done to maintain a parasite-free body. Thorough cleaning and complete cooking of food especially beef and pork, may help prevent the proliferation of parasitic worms.

Medical studies show that parasitic infections in the body occur when there is pH imbalance in the body or too much alkaline. Keeping the intestines slightly acidic by consuming two tablespoons of apple cider diluted in eight ounces of water may help prevent and treat this kind of contamination. Parasite cleansing in the body can lead to normal metabolism easier weight loss. In addition, to its cleansing effect, daily doses of this vinegar in water has been proven to control high blood pressure after weeks of use. Medical specialists advice individuals to try natural remedies before taking over the counter medicines. Preventing the development of intestinal parasites should be the goal every individuals.

Complete cleansing of intestinal parasites in ones body may lead to normal metabolism and easier weight loss. Food cravings may decrease because more nutrients, minerals, and other necessary ingredients are absorbed by the body. In return, the important internal organs function properly. These factors are healthy to achieve one’s ideal weight. A parasite-free body can make health and fitness goals more attainable.

It is in the top ten major causes of death everywhere. Supported studies, HBP will have a 60 growth by year 2025 where it will be highest in the 3rd world countries. Has high blood pressure been bugging you for numerous years? Thousands of people feel the same way. It is in the top ten major causes of death everywhere. Supported studies, HBP will have a 60 growth by year 2025 where it will be highest in the 3rd world countries.

It is calculated that 1 out of every 3 individuals have the disease and it is expected to rise at an horrifying rate. This is the grounds why in most families, there are 1 or 2 relatives who have the trends for high blood pressure.

It is comfortable to see that a shift in lifestyle is one of the key answers to this disease. Being that easy, then on that point should be a change in the number of cases. Why it is linked with lifestyle is because of our mode of living which stimulates stress and tensions that change the metabolic process of the body to respond.

Few of what we need to pay attention to are diet, rest and medication up to the simple undertakings of basic life decision creating. The measure of stress a person obtains from economic and social status can be a factor that will regulate blood pressure constancy. To suggest changes in lifestyle hence is too complicated a job. It signifies total change to the outlook in life and that never materializes overnight.

For some reason science will not give intangible solutions to people who have intense attacks, or people that need current medical attention. Here are some of the usual medications given to high blood pressure patients

DIURETICS called water pills are substances that tends to increase the discharge of urine from the body.

BETA BLOCKERS these are a class of drugs that block beta-adrenergic substances such as adrenaline epinephrine, a key agent in the "sympathetic" portion of the autonomic involuntary nervous system and activation of heart muscle.

ACE INHIBITORS ACE stands for Angiotensin Converting Enzyme, it is a hormone that causes the muscles surrounding blood vessels to contract and thereby narrows the blood vessels. The medication will stop the production of the hormone and helps the veins to relax so that the blood pressure decreases.

ANGIOTENSIN ANTAGONIST as a result of administering ACE, this is a block to angiotensin II hormone to defend the veins from constricting.

CALCIUM CHANNEL BLOCKERS are a class of drugs that block the entry of calcium into the muscle cells of the heart and the arteries.

ALPHA BLOCKERSAlso called alpha-adrenergic blocking agent. drug that opposes the excitatory effects of norepinephrine released from sympathetic nerve endings at alpha-receptors and that causes vasodilation and a decrease in blood pressure.

ALPHA BETA BLOCKERS it is just about the same as Alpha blockers but that this works to slow down the heartbeat of the patient, this will end in less blood pumped in the heart to alleviate the pressure.

NERVOUS SYSTEM INHIBITORS relax blood vessels by controlling nerve impulses. This causes the blood vessels to become wider and the blood pressure to go down.

VASODILATORS is a substance that causes blood vessels in the body to become wider by relaxing the smooth muscle in the vessel wall, or vasodilation.

There is naught like prevention- than cure. If you will think about this earnestly, there is no amount of medication that will be more help than assuming care of the body before its medication is needed.

A good healthy diet with low cholesterol ought be preserved in the younger years of life. Prevention of weight addition by executing exercises and avoidance of a lazy lifestyle will solve high blood pressures from taking over its lead in reducing a persons self-importance through an attack.

An ideal woman is often pictured to be a person with a slender figure with long hair. Hair has always been important for every woman because it somehow reflects their personality. Having long shiny hair can seduce a man, it can land a woman in a shampoo commercial, or get compliments from others. It can reflect a woman’s health and gives an impression that she is healthy, and that she is taking good care of herself. Of course, not all women would want long hair. It depends on their character, the weather, their lifestyle, and so on.

Hair has its own life cycle, usually from two to six years of hair growth. Each hair grows at least one centimeter per month. Ninety percent of the hair on the scalp is growing at any given time, while the remaining ten is at its resting phase. Specifically for women with long hair, it is considered normal for them to shed some hair as part of the cycle. Not to worry, since it is normally replaced as it grows back in the same follicle on one’s head. Most people lose about fifty to a hundred of head hair strands a day. If one is losing more than those mentioned, a particular health condition can be seen, which would be hair loss.

Also called alopecia, it is basically the excessive hair loss of one person. This specific health condition may arise due to several causes. From three or four months after an illness or a major surgery, the patient may suffer from hair loss. This is usually temporary and is related to the stress of their particular illness. Another cause could arise from hormonal problems, primarily from imbalanced male and female hormones androgens and estrogens. Pregnancy can also cause hair loss, usually three months after the woman conceived her baby. This is also related to the woman’s hormones, because during pregnancy, high levels of female hormones cause the body to keep hair that normally falls out. When such hormones get back to pre-pregnancy stages, hair falls out and the hair cycle starts normally once again. Certain medications can also cause hair loss, including blood thinners, gout medications, chemotherapy medications, birth control pills, and anti-depressants.

Hair treatments, such as hair coloring, bleaching, straightening, perms, and certain hairstyles braids and cornrows can also contribute to a person’s hair loss. A condition called traction alopecia is present if a person ties or pulls herhis hair tightly that causes tension on the scalp. This particular condition may be permanent if the hairstyle is worn for a long period of time, long enough to damage the person’s hair follicles.

Hair care is important to avoid these hair conditions. By eating a well balanced diet, hair is given its full health benefits. Washing hair gently with shampoo once a day, lathering gently, and not rubbing the hair too much on the towel to dry proves effective in taking care of one’s crowning glory. Avoid the use of hair dryers as much as possible, and style hair when its is dry or damp, not when still wet. Be careful to use certain hair care products as there are chemicals especially those found in hair coloring or hair straightening treatments, which can also damage the hair.

Since my diagnosis with diabetes at the age of eleven, my own diet has changed dramatically. I maintain my current healthy weight with a great dieteating plan. If you do plan on losing more than about a stone in weight then I would visit your doctor for more tips on how to do this without risk.

I’ve had diabetes for seven years now, but to tell you that how I maintain weight is perfect would be totally wrong of me. However, I can advise you to follow my steps because I know what works and what doesn’t. Before I really begin I must also say that I have been brought up by great parents who taught me to eat everything, and so I do! If there is something that you don’t like, there are loads of other diabetic recipes and ideas that you will eat and appreciate.

I am a university student and I like to buy fresh and organic produce from where I live. I believe that this is important because it can be the most good for your body and contain more nutrients and vitamins than most supermarket produce. I like to source food from my fortnightly farmers market in town, which sells amazing meat and dairy produce and fresh in season fruit and vegetables. This is another important thing to remember, that eating fruit and vegetables in their season means that they will taste better as well as doing you good. I have a lot of influence from Western European cuisine mainly France and Italy as you will tell, but I do not profess to be a chef and everything is easy to make and very convenient.

I have read countless diet books and diabetic recipediet books, and I came to a conclusion that I think really works. I fused all the good things from the diets but not from every diet and sort of put together my own one. I call this my Juvenile Diabetes Healthy Diet!

The “rules” that I would lay down are as follows

1. Cut back on snacks and then change the type of snacks you eat.
Certainly my biggest downfall although it wasn’t really apparent to me. When I first started at University, I had little or no routine which meant that filling my day was difficult and popping into the kitchen for a snack, no matter how healthy it felt, was a regular occurence. This is one of the hardest things to do for some people, but establishing a great routine is essential to great diabetes care. The types of snacks to be eating are unsalted nuts, dried unsweetened fruit, fresh fruit, fresh vegetables I love fresh red pepper and cucumber, dark chocolate richer and nicer and you only want 2 squares usually.

2. Cut back on white flour and embrace wholemeal carbs.
This is the most essential part of your diet, and the thing that can show the biggest increase in loss of weight. Some diets in fact jsut focus on this point, and are very successful. Wholemeal especially stoneground wholemeal is so good for you and has so much more flavour in it that switching is much easier than you think. Most people are really surprised at the ranges you can get in you supermarket, again remember that the bread that is best for you is the one that is freshest with least perservatives or added ingredients. Also, brown or basmati rice is great with a lovely nutty texture. Wholemeal pasta is great and for your potatoes I would totally recommend the smaller new potatoes.

3. Stop drinking cocktails, start drinking wine.
Cocktails are full of sugar, colourants and preservatives. As a student I have had loads of practice at going out and not drinking cocktails, so my drink of choice is Malibu and Diet Coke if I feel I have to drink something and I make it last all night. I can then top up with Diet Coke which has almost no sugar in it and it looks as though I am drinking Malibu, who is to know. If you are out at a restaurant, red wine is much better than anything else you can order, except water of course! and it has been proven that the anti-oxidants in red wine are great for keeping a healthy heart. The recommended amount is one glass a day with your evening meal.

4. Start cooking more fruit and vegetables.
Fresh fruit and vegetables are a great way to get all the vitamins and minerals you need. And there are so many different ways in which to cook vegetables, but I find that raw is the best followed closely by steamed. Both of these ways preserve all their natural goodness as well. I will follow this post with another diabetes recipes post.

5. Drink more water.
I know you have heard people say this many times before, but the benefits of drinking more water are endless. A few tips on how to get more water into your day are firstly to put bottles of water at all the places you go in the house or work. So keep one in your desk, on your desk, a glass in the kitchen, the bedroom, the sitting room, etc. Try and drink all these glasses up and you will be well on your way to 8 glasses a day. The trick is to add a glass every few days or so, if you try to drink all that water in one go you won’t be so inclined to drink 8 glasses again, trust me! Have a go, it’s amazing how great you will feel.
